Declared as a Natural, Cultural and Worldwide Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1983, the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu was built on a geographic area which lies between Andean and Amazonic regions.

 This wonderful Inca construction located at almost 120 kilometers from the city of Cusco, was revealed to the entire world in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, the American promoter of its archeological research.  Its touristic exploitation began in the 1950s, making it nowadays one of the most well-known natural and archeological finds on the planet.

Surrounded by a majestic panorama, Machu Picchu is truly fascinating because of its unparallel natural beauty, which is habitat to an infinite number of valuable species of flora and fauna, many of them endemic and others in danger of extinction.

A splendid trail known as Camino Inca complements the great majestic work of the Children of the Sun.

Due to its historic worth and its incomparable architecture, Machu Picchu was chosen in 2007 as one of the 7 Wonders of the World.
